Saltwater Lures

Crankbaits have been part of bass fishermen's arsenals for years, yet many traditional saltwater fishermen tend to pay very little attention to crank baits when targeting large sport fish.   However, the modern fishermen know that Crankbait are one of the best choices to effectively imitate fleeing or wounded baitfish and are irresistible most or the larger saltwater species - Striped Bass, Bluefish, etc.

Trolling is a method of fishing where lures are deployed from the stern of a boat and dragged through the water column under the power of the boats engine. The lures replicate baitfish attempting to flee from predators. We offer a variety of trolling lures for various fish species.

Jigs are one of the most versatile lures and angler can use. Essentially, a jig is a fish hook that has lead molded around the upper shank of the hook allowing you to fish at whatever depth you desire. The hook is either dressed with buck tail, feathers, a soft plastic lure or natural bait. Jigs can be cast and retrieved at various depths depending on the weight of the jig. They can also be deployed over the side of the boat and bounced along the bottom while drifting with the tide. Other styles of jigs can be dropped vertically and then retrieved quickly to simulate fleeing baitfish.

Spoons are lures that are usually made from either hammered or smooth metal. As they are retrieved, water resistance causes them to flip and roll erratically simulating a shiny baitfish. They are made in various sizes and weights to replicate any size baitfish.

“Fishing plug” is a generalized term for lures made from either wood or plastic that can either be cast or trolled. They strongly resemble baitfish with various types of paint jobs and often incorporate iridescent, scale-like finishes to simulate many varieties of forage fish. Some of these lures are designed to be worked on the surface while some sport a diving lip causing the lure to dig deep into the water column allowing an angler to fish at different depths.

Some lures are made for trolling and some are made for casting. These lures are designed for casting long distances to be able to reach those fish that seem unattainable. Aerodynamic and perfectly weighted, these lures will allow you to cast great distances from either a boat or the surf.

Gaining great attention over the past few years, swimbaits provide a profile and action that most gamefish have yet to see. Swimbaits are weighted to cast well and be worked at various water depths. Constructed of soft plastic, wood or hard plastics, swimbaits provide a lifelike movement that no gamefish can resist.

The name says it all. These lures are designed to be worked across the surface of the water to mimic a fleeing baitfish. Creating a gurgling, popping or erratic side to side action, these lures cause a surface disturbance that can be seen and heard by gamefish from a distance. In situations where schools of fish are feeding on bait they have pushed to the surface, there is no better lure choice than a topwater lure.
