The frame and contoured side plates of this reel are constructed of lightweight, one piece forged machined aluminum. There is a gold anodized finish on the frame, spool, and side plates which assist in preventing corrosion which is a common problem associated with saltwater fishing. The spool of Penn International 965 is machined from solid bar-stock aluminum which will allow it to perform even under the heaviest of loads. There are two aircraft grade, shielded, stainless steel ball bearings as well and an infinite anti-reverse roller bearing which gives the Penn 965 the ability to reel in those huge game fish with ease. The handle is constructed of aluminum with a comfortable oversize hand grip for all day comfort.
