The Penn Convention Level Wind Reel 309M differs from all the other reels in this series because it has a high capacity stainless steel spool.  The 309M has Penn’s exclusive HT-100 Multi-disc Star Drag System which gives you extreme smoothness and stopping power.  There are composite side plates and a warning clicker on this reel, with a stainless steel Level Wind which evenly lays the line on the reel every time.  The handle is counterbalanced with an oversized comfortable hand grip to make long retrieves super comfortable.  In order to be super strong and smooth, Penn has put precision machined stainless steel pinion gears, with high-strength brass main gears in the interior of this reel. This reel has been designed to allow you to fish in both salt and freshwater, and can troll or cast.
