Fluorocarbon Fishing LineFluorocarbon Fishing Line is made of carbon base polymers material (Fluorocarbon) to form a line that is almost invisible underwater. Because Fluorocarbon has nearly an identical refractive index of water the line simply disappears when presented to fish in water. Fluorocarbon is inert and will not breakdown or stretch in water or sunlight like nylon fishing line. Fluorocarbon’s density makes it very abrasion-resistant, making it a popular leader material for large sport fishermen. Fluorocarbon clearly offers advantages in sunny conditions, where the water is clear and the fish are heavily pressured -- low visibility and greater presentation.
Because of its increased density you will need to be selective on the fishing knots you use with Fluorocarbon. The Trilene knot is the preferred knot - making sure you make all 5 wraps and adequately wet the knot before cinching the knot closed. |
