A good spinning rod for catching most kinds of fish found within casting distance of the shore is the Daiwa Emcast Surf model EC 1102MHFS. This rod is 11’ long, is a two piece, and has a blank made from sensitive and strong graphite. The advantage of the blank is that it enables detection of bottom conditions and alerts you to even the lightest pickups. This model features Med Heavy Power, a Fast Action, 6 guides, a lure weight of 3 to 6 ounces and a line weight of 15 to 30 pounds. The Reel Seat is stainless and hooded, and the blank is protected from by Diawa's X-Tube which reduces wear on the blank. The grip is hand-wrapped and made of high density Duracork for many years on the water.
