The Daiwa Saltiga Surf SASURF4500 Spinning Reel is designed to withstand the punishments of today’s surf fishing experience. In order to prevent corrosion from the saltwater, Daiwa has made the body out of lightweight “Air Metal” magnesium. The spool and handle are made of heavy duty, lightweight machined aluminum, and the tubular air bail has a bail lock which prevents the handle and rotor from turning during a cast. There is also dual CRBB (corrosion resistant ball bearing) line roller which allows ultra smooth retrieves, and an ultra-reliable manual bail closure. The drag system is sealed, so you are able to wash the reel down and not have to worry about water affecting its performance. There are seven ball bearings total in this reel; 4 CRBB, 3 stainless steel ball bearings, and one roller bearing that allows for extremely smooth performance. The gears are Digigear, digitally designed and machined to allow perfect meshing for years of fish fighting action.
