There are three ball bearings that are coated with a special coating that prevents deteriorating - lasting up to 12 times longer than ones without this coating. There are Teflon and stainless steel washers inside the drag which prevents metal on metal friction, so that tightening and loosening the drag are extremely easy. The main shaft of the Daiwa SB30 is constructed of stainless steel and has extremely precise gearing to make operating this reel effortless.

The external design is just as impressive. There is a super tough anodized finish that is corrosion resistant that will stand up to even the toughest of elements. The drive train of this reel is protected and reinforced by the ultra strong, rigid metal frame, so concerns of the drive train not staying inline under great stress are eliminated. Daiwa will repair or replace any Daiwa rod or reel which proves defective in workmanship or materials within one year from the date of original purchase.  Retain your sales slip as proof of purchase date in the event warranty work becomes necessary.  This warranty does not cover lost parts, malfunctions due to abuse, accident or normal wear, or, cleaning or relubrication required due to owner's failure to provide reasonable and necessary maintenance.  Repairs to your Daiwa reel due to abnormal use, modification or beyond the warranty period are available for a reasonable charge, from Daiwa's Factory Service Department.
