Daiwa Saltiga SA40 Conventional Reel is Special Order (ships in 5-7 business days)If you enjoy fishing with braided line, but the reels you use just can’t handle the stress and abuse that braided line dishes out, then the Daiwa Saltiga SA40 Conventional Reel is the one for you. It is designed inside and out to be an absolute powerhorse.
The drag of this reel is assembled with grease-impregnated graphite and stainless steel washers that allow you to tighten or loosen the drag with ease even under the heaviest of loads. The drive train has six ball bearings and one roller bearing, which will make the retrieve as smooth as silk. There are also machine-cut, high strength alloy gears which are designed to stand-up to the tortures of braided line and big game fish.
In order for a reel to perform like it should under the strain of braided line, the outside design is just as important as the inside. Daiwa definitely took this into consideration when they beefed up the outside design to withstand pretty much anything. In order for a reel to function properly, you must make sure the drive train stays in-lined at all times, Daiwa ensures this with the super strong and rigid, anodized, solid bar air-craft grade aluminum. The handle on this conventional reel has two positions that it is able to set into and has oversize, super comfortable grip. The spool of this reel comes equipped with a spool clicker, so you are able to hear when a fish is beginning to run with your line, or it you need to tighten the drag.
